The Woll House
Around
1900, Mssrs. Georg Woll erected a trading outlet with living quarters on
erven no. 45 of the Kaiserstraße in the typical colonial architectural
style. The northern part local granite was used, while the western part
grey Karibib marble from local production was used.
Due to the great drought and the world-wide depression,
the German private school was housed here in 1933. Two rooms were used as
classrooms, while an old clay building was used as hostel by the Redecker
family.
The buildings were declared national monument on the 15th
of May 1986, and is currently used as residence and garage.
Das Haus Woll
Im Jahre 1900 errichtet
Georg Woll an der damaligen Kaiserstraße auf Grundstück Nr. 45 ein
Wohnhaus mit Kaufladen im typischen kolonialen Baustil. Für die
nördliche Fassade des Hauses wurden Granitsteine aus der Umgebung
verwendet, während die westliche Seite des Gebäudes aus grauem Karibiber
Marmor errichtet wurde.
Aufgrund der großen Dürre und der
darauffolgenden weltweiten Depression wurde die Deutsche Privatschule 1933
in dem Haus Woll untergebracht. Zwei Räume standen den beiden
Lehrkräften zur Verfügung, während ein altes Lehmgebäude der Familie
Redecker als Schülerheim diente.
Das Wohnhaus wurde am 15. Mai 1986 unter Denkmalschutz
gestellt, und dient zur Zeit als Wohnung und KfZ-Werkstatt mit
Verkaufsraum.

l´anno 1900 Georg Woll costruiva sul terreno no. 45 lungo la
Kaiserstrasse di allora una casa d´abitazione con negozio nello stile
tipico dell´epoca coloniale. Per la facciata settentrionale sono state
scelte pietre di granito della zona, mentre la parte occidentale
dell´edificio è fatto di marmo grigio di Karibib.
A causa della grande siccità e della depressione
mondiale seguente, la casa Woll ospitava la scuola privata tedesca. Due
stanze stavano a disposizione per i due insegnanti, una vecchia casa di
mattoni non cotti della famiglia Redecker diventava l´ostello degli
alunni.
La casa d´abitazione fu dichiarata monumento nazionale
il 15 maggio 1986. Al presente serve da appartamento e da officina per
macchine con negozio.
